Grape variety: Vernatsch
Donà Rouge was created in 2001 from the desire to develop something truly "special" from the local grape variety Vernatsch. The partly forgotten and underestimated potential of this old grape variety was meant to be reinterpreted and rediscovered.
The journey begins in a sunny, breezy vineyard 450 meters above sea level, where the vines thrive in medium-heavy glacial moraine soil. These old, deeply rooted vines, aged between 40 and 50 years, produce only a small yield of small, intensely flavourful grapes through careful, natural cultivation.
In the glass, the wine reveals its distinctive character, offering fresh notes of sour cherries, lingonberries, and red currants, while warm aromas of juniper, cloves, and incense gently envelop the senses. Aged for about two years in both wooden barrels and bottles, the wine emerges as a smooth, spicy red with remarkable harmony.
